KDU Penang’s Media Appreciation Night 2013: An evening of acquaintanceships renewed

It was a joyful event on a wet late evening when 50 pressmen and women from various Press Houses in Penang converged in KDU Penang to indulge in an exquisite fine-dining experience at the Bon Appetit Restaurant during the MyQuest 5 Star institution's annual Media Appreciation Night on 21 Nov 2013. Co – sponsored by media vendors such as Ikatan Asli, E-Network Connection, Optimal Media and EDSB Outdoor, scenes of joyful chatting and laughter were seen amongst the popular college's management staff and Penang media folks as they mingled over gourmet cuisines prepared by KDU Penang's very own Hospitality and Culinary Arts School Master and Celebrity Chefs.

The evening started with a welcoming speech by Dr Chong Beng Keok who is the CEO and Principal of KDU Penang. In her speech, Dr Chong thanked the media for their continuous support towards KDU Penang's news and events throughout the years and mentioned that she looked forward to an even closer relationship with the media for the coming years. She also had big news for the press members who came, stating that KDU College Penang has just received an invitation from the Ministry of Education to be upgraded as a University College in 2014. "As we will be moving forward as a University College in 2014, we are currently upgrading our campus facilities even further with the development of 2 new SMART classrooms which will be completed by December 2013. These SMART classrooms will be equipped with the latest technology such as an interactive projector and magnetic whiteboard walls to facilitate outcome based learning activities. One of the best parts of these SMART classrooms is that it will even be furnished with a recording system whereby the entire classroom's activities can be recorded as video and posted on the college's interactive learning website. This is to allow students to do revisions and look for references more conveniently even after classes." Dr Chong further added.

Mr Neoh Soon Ken, KDU Penang's Senior Marketing and Communications Manager also took to the stage to thank the various press representatives for their continuous coverage of KDU P,enang's events and news for 2013. He also presented KDU Penang's various achievements and success stories for 2013 such as the KDU Education Group's 30th Anniversary Celebration this year as well as proof of the public's continuous trust and support towards the KDU brand through the recording of yet another good enrolment year for 2013. Like Dr Chong, Mr Neoh also saved a piece of big news for last when he informed the press members present of KDU's Penang confirmed plan to build a new campus in the Batu Kawan area which will be just a stone throw's distance from the 2nd Penang Bridge. Raptures applause was given to this news by all who were present for the night.

 A total of 9 international fusion cuisines were served for the night with compliments flying around for each and every one of them. The dinner was wrapped up with a licentious line up of confections and a round of applause each for the 7 KDU Chefs who created the evening's delectable cuisines when they came out for the 'meet and greet' session with the guests. It was indeed an enjoyable evening with good food and company.
