KDU Penang UC Batu Kawan Campus Groundbreaking Ceremony

KDU Penang University College unveiled plans for a 10-acre flagship campus in Batu Kawan, at a groundbreaking event officiated by Chief Minister of Penang YAB Lim Guan Eng and witnessed by representatives from the Penang Development Corporation (PDC) on 23rd February 2016.
When completed, KDU Penang UC will be the biggest purpose-built campus in Batu Kawan, with a capacity to accommodate up to 5,000 students. It will feature a green campus with state-of-the-art facilities that are in line with the requirements of a university college, and include a myriad of informal activity areas designed to promote active discussions and learning beyond the classroom.
The groundbreaking for the new KDU Penang UC campus marks a new chapter in the history of KDU in Penang, which also marks its 25th anniversary of operations in the same year.
In 2014, KDU’s parent company Paramount Corporation Berhad (PCB) purchased 30 acres of freehold land from PDC in Batu Kawan with plans to build Penang’s first university metropolis – modelled after its successful Paramount Utropolis in Glenmarie, Shah Alam. Anchored by KDU Penang UC’s flagship campus, this new university metropolis will feature an innovative live-and-learn, work-and-play integrated lifestyle concept.
