KDU students emerged best in MSC competion

KDU's IT students took on a new role as technopreneurs recently when they competed in the inaugural MSC Malaysia-IHL Business Plan and Business Idea Competition 2010/2011 held at KDU University College in Damansara Jaya on 11 November 2010. This competition is organized in collaboration with MSC Malaysia and Multimedia Development Corporation (MdeC) to discover potential talents in the fields of ICT and Business to drive the nation towards establishing the knowledge based economy. The competition hopes to cast students to the challenge of working together in a cross discipline real life organization.

Examplar or Prototype models were presented with six teams competing for both categories. KDU School of Information Technology representatives, Team Striver Software Solutions were represented by lecturer J. Joshua Thomas and Choy Chee Ken and team Dyna Technologies were represented by Hwang A Jin and Adam James Loh Ewe Leong. Both teams from KDU's School of Engineering, Science and Technology emerged winners for both categories.

One of the judges, DTE Consult Sdn Bhd master trainer Dr Tengku Naufal Tengku Mansor, advised candidates to refine their presentation skills. "They need to have more discussions with their lecturers to understand the gap between the theoretical concepts and the realistic business plans", he added.

The competition brought all the winners, namely Kurupparan Puvanesvaran, Nishant Jayasankar, Hoh Hon Herng, Khor Rui Yen, Calvin Chin Zi Sen, Kang Lit Yew, Tan Jia Hong, Benjamin Koh Kai Ming to up their challenge coming March when they compete for the finals.

KDU is driven by a team of dedicated and experienced lecturers who believe in engaging students in learning processes and building confidence through cultivating excellent study skills. Members of the public especially SPM School Leavers who have a minimum of 3As in their SPM forecast or trial exam results are encouraged to apply for Teo Soo Pin Scholarship or Bursary Award. PTPTN loans are also available for qualified students. Closing date is 31st December 2010.
