Power Chef 2016

KDU Penang University College (KDU Penang) hosted the latest installment of the Power Chef Competition at its campus on the 16th April 2016. Modeled after prestigious cooking competitions such as Iron Chef, Battle of the Masters and The Chopping Board, the stage is set once again for students to show off their flair for cooking and stand out among the rest.
 
Organised by the School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts (SHTCA), in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism and Culture (MOTAC), Power Chef is an educational, friendly and fun-filled culinary competition designed for secondary school students who are considering carving a career in the food and beverage industry. The competition also aims to unearth students’ hidden talents in the kitchen. Brahim’s Dawina Group are the main sponsors of the event.

This year, the competition saw 50 teams, comprising of 100 students from high schools around Penang, putting their culinary skills to the test. There will also be a Teacher category where participants from secondary schools in Penang and even outstate will compete. The judges for this year’s competition consist of food journalists, educators from the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) and WACS members, Professional Chefs from hotels and a Chef Lecturer from KDU Penang University College.
