Thrilled KDU students and fans made a beeline to greet Ace Shuttler at KDU Penang


One KDU’s Centre of Design Excellence lecturers, Mr. Moses Khor also took the opportunity to present Dato’ Lee with a hand-drawn portrait as a gift which captured the special moments during his recent Olympic adventure.
Pure adoration – such was the mode of the environment when the pride of our nation and newly crowned silver medalist in the recent London Olympics, Dato' Lee Chong Wei set foot at KDU College Penang today to the standing ovation of a large crowd of students as they began the new academic semester of the final quarter of 2012.

The visit of the popular KDU Brand Ambassador coincided the with the orientation day of the new KDU students of the August intake. An activity normally designed to get students to familiarize with KDU's useful resources and support services, none of the students could believe their luck that part of their induction program also included a meeting the national icon in the "LCW Meet the Fans Session".

Dato' Lee who is visiting KDU Penang for the 2nd time since joining the KDU Education Group, signed a motivation board for the students which was aptly said "If you have DREAM, never ever GIVE UP". He then addressed the crowd consisting of KDU students and fans to never give up when pursuing a dream – a trait that he encompass and uphold. Recapping his experience in the London Olympics, the students were inspired and awed by his struggle and courage to face his rival in such a challenging match and will no doubt strive to do the same for their studies.

Equally excited fans were the first twenty students who recently signed up during KDU's August intake Open Day intake. Each of them were entitled to an exclusive autographed signature racquet, part of KDU Penang's 21st anniversary giveaways. Many of them of were in awe beyond words upon receiving the exclusive racquet and words of encouragement from the national here. Cheong Kin Ray who enrolled for KDU's Diploma Interior Design said "I am so excited to finally meet our national hero. I came very early to KDU's Open Day to register for my design program so that I will be amongst the first 20 to eligible for the racquet." One KDU's Centre of Design Excellence lecturers, Mr. Moses Khor also took the opportunity to present Dato' Lee with a handdrawn portrait as a gift which captured the special moments during his recent Olympic adventure.

KDU College Penang's CEO & Principal, Dr. Chong Beng Keok also praised Dato' Lee's recent achievements in the Olympics andstated that his continued success in life through his strong will and determination is part of the values which KDU wants inspire and embody in all of its students. KDU Marketing & Communications Manager, Mr Neoh Soon Ken also highlighted that since Dato' Lee's winning of his second Olympic silver medal, he has been drawing cheers and encouragement from fans all over the world especially from the KDU community including staffs who today, went all out to obtain his autograph as well as the opportunity to take a photograph with the icon. Mr. Neoh Soon Ken further highlighted that it was indeed heartwarming to also see so many Penangites in KDU today to give Dato' Lee the hero's welcome he deserves. This comes as KDU also offered special passes to Dato' Lee's fans to visit him at the campus auditorium today which was immediately snapped up once the news was made available on KDU Penang's website.

All in all it was a day to remember for everyone in KDU Penang and Dato' Lee's visit concluded with a group photograph featuring him and the staff community of KDU.
