Workshop Description:
The workshop would compare and contrast the main types of business organizational model from a legal perspective. The focus will be on the practical legal aspects of setting up and operating a private limited company, with some brief reference to the legal requirements for setting up a sole proprietor and partnership. The workshop will also explore the legal identity of a private limited company as well as the duties and responsibilities of the officers of a private limited company.
Speaker Profile:
The speaker is a lecturer in the School of Business, KDU Penang UC. She has extensive experience as a lawyer specializing in corporate banking and finance. The speaker also has in-depth familiarity with a variety of international legal transactional areas: securitization, international loan syndication, international bond issues, swaps, project finance, privatization, international trade, international finance, arbitration, immigration, international litigation, and securities law. 

The speaker holds a Bachelor of Laws degree (University of Sheffield, U.K.), LL.M in International Business Law (University College London, U.K.), LL.M in International Law (University of Houston, Texas, U.S.) and MBA (Oklahoma City University, U.S.) as well as being admitted as a Barrister-at-Law to the Utter Bar of the Honorable Society of Middle Temple (U.K.), an Advocate & Solicitor of the Malayan High Court, and Counselor & Attorney-at-Law in the State of New York, US.

Currently, the speaker is a PhD candidate with University Science Malaysia researching the– “Optimal Currency Area and Crisis Defense Mechanism in East Asia: Towards Monetary and Financial Stability”
