KDU 1st Job Fair is the one-stop recruitment centre

KDU Penang inaugural Job Fair was successfully organised on 16-17 April 2014 at its campus and it has attracted 23 companies to take part.


Organised by PenExpo Events Sdn Bhd and co-organised by KDU Penang, the KDU Job Fair was organized to benefit not only KDU’s graduating students, and its alumni but also the public who are looking for better job opportunities. It has created openings for employers who were seeking suitable candidates to join their professional team and job seekers who were hoping to meet their prospective employers.


Mr Francis Wong, Director of PenExpo informed us that the event served as a one-stop centre for recruitments. “Employers get to expose themselves to the potential group of candidates and create awareness on their brand names. It is also an effective way for employers to conduct face-to-face interview right away and for the potential candidates and to create opportunities for them to have an insight of the companies they are interested in.” said Wong.


“It is very important for Gen Y nowadays to be able to communicate directly with their prospective employers and have an understanding of the culture of the companies.” added Wong.


This first job fair was an attainment with the support of many organisations participating namely Star Publications (M) Berhad, Excard Corporation Sdn Bhd, Plexus Manufacturing Sdn Bhd, SMT Technologies Sdn Bhd, Agensi Pekerjaan Randstad Sdn Bhd, Prudential BSN Takaful Berhad, Agensi Pekerjaan Allstaff Outsourcing Sdn Bhd, Esquel Malaysia Sdn Bhd, FE Planning Sdn Bhd, WWT Technology Sdn Bhd, Schawk Imaging Sdn Bhd, Southern Steel Berhad, Time Planet Sdn Bhd, Ann Joo Steel Berhad, G Link Marketing Sdn Bhd, JobHouse Sdn Bhd, Advanced Micro Devices Export Sdn Bhd, Mesiniaga Berhad, Fuji Electric (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, ASE Electronics (M) Sdn Bhd, National Instrument Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Etiqa Insurance & Takaful and Human Capital Connection Sdn Bhd.


Dr Chong Beng Keok, Principal and CEO of KDU Penang informed that it was another effort by KDU Penang to create job opportunities for its students. “It has always been the practice of KDU Penang to prepare our students for a real working environment. We do not only provide them with the knowledge and skills they need but we also help our students by giving them the best grounding in pursuing a career of their choice.” said Dr Chong.


“We have always pride ourselves with a track record of 90% employment upon graduation. The job fair is yet another effort of KDU Penang in giving our students an exposure of wider selection, all under one roof. “


Based on the feedbacks, a few multinational companies received good response from the potential candidates. Face-to-face interviews were even conducted on-the-spot. 
The two-day event was indeed a success and it managed to connect both prospective employers and employees together. It has definitely opened up selections for both parties involved.
