KDU Penang doing its part for the community



The Student Council of KDU College Penang (KDU Penang) organised a Chinese New Year Food Distribution event on 12th February 2014 at the Lighthouse Centre, Penang.


It was yet another community work carried out by the young and thoughtful students at KDU Penang with the goal to stop hunger among the poor and homeless.


The event organiser, Ms Ginger Chin Zi Wei who is also the Student Council President 2014 said, “Our aim is to help fill an empty stomach and warm a heart especially during this festivity.” She then announced that they collected a total of RM1991 from students and staff of KDU Penang during the charity drive. “The money collected was used to purchase food items and toiletries for the needy. We were thankful to those public who donated packet drinks as well as some Chinese New Year cookies.” added Ms Chin.


According to Ms Joey Phuah, the Advisor of Student Council of KDU Penang, 200 sets of food, beverages and goody bags were handed out to the needy. Ms Phuah further expounded, “Throughout the years, the students and staff of KDU Penang have done various community works. It is our sincere attempt to make positive contributions to a greater society good. Through such practices, it inspires and motivates the younger generation to exercise their social responsibilities.”


The community in KDU Penang believe that a little act of kindness would make a big difference to others. With this in mind, they are continuously striving to do their duties in making differences.
