KDU Penang has always pride itself by producing industry-ready graduates for Malaysia's work force needs. In a recent move to prepare its students for higher employability, KDU Penang's Student Placement office organized a talk on "how to prepare for job interviews" on 3 October 2013.
The guest speaker for this event was none other than Mr. Edmund Teh from Jobstreet Malaysia who shared useful information and tips with over 100 students on the A-Zs in preparing for a job interview. Among the areas covered include steps in creating a successful resume, 8 key interview tips, avoiding interview 'No-Show's as well as dressing the part for job interviews.
Among the interesting areas that Mr. Edmund also shared with the audiences during the talk was about the "Top reasons for fresh graduates' unemployment in 2013". The survey was done among employers in Malaysia in 2013 and the prominent ones on the list were reasons such as asking for unrealistic salary/benefits, followed by poor character, attitude / personality as well as poor communication skills.
Ms. Anna Lim who is the Assistant Manager of the KDU Penang Student Placement office was pleased with the turnout of the talk while adding that talks such as these will benefit KDU's students as it will help them avoid slip-ups that might affect their future employment opportunities.
The talk ended with an enlightened quote from Mark Chang, founder and CEO of Jobsteet.com which read "If you find the job you love, you don't have to work a day for the rest of your life".
