KDU Chef Students are taught by the experts. Our chefs continue to be great inspirations to students with its increasing list of celebrity chefs receiving high praise and international acclaims from locally and abroad.
For one of them, Chef Aravinthan was ecstatic when the news broke that he was among the 6 chosen ones shortlisted to be featured in Astro Vaanavil's hottest cooking show - Baba's Gama Gama Suvai. Appearing as Guest Chef, the show is a must-see for those who want to pick-up quick recipes, or for those searching for a recipe with a twist between traditional and contemporary cooking. Hosted by THR Raaga's renowned deejay, Suresh Kumar, the programme will feature 51 episodes over the next few months with various delectable dishes, ranging from tea-time treats to savory desserts.
This star experience has certainly been very enriching for KDU's Butchery expert and recalling his filming stint in Kuala Lumpur recently, Chef Aravin said, "I am much honored to be chosen as the Guest Chef. Defeating a handful of talented chefs was definitely not easy, we were given only 2 days to come up with all the recipes before filming starts". Aspiring to compete in the IKA/World Culinary Olympics one day, this humble lecturer has a few words of wisdom to share with his students. Stressing the importance of presentation, he agrees that a chef must also maintain quality of its creation for a good gastronomical adventure.
Born in Sabah and raised in Perak, this KDU Lecturer looks forward to more opportunities in filming cooking shows especially in English and Bahasa Malaysia. With previous experiences specializing in banqueting, he is grateful to have mentors like Chef Richmond Lim and the late Master Chef Siva. "They are the ones who inspire me to make every dish a fine dining experience."
