A small act of kindness makes a big difference

Chinese New Year is such a happy occasion when families and friends gather and usher in another prosperous year. While enjoying the appetising and bountiful food and spending the wonderful time with our loved ones, have you ever thought of those who are less fortunate than us, who are struggling hard to make ends meet?

The young and thoughtful community at KDU College Penang whole-heartedly would like show their care and love for those unfortunates. As such, the Student Council of KDU College Penang is organizing a Chinese New Year Food Distribution event on 12th February 2014 from 5pm to 7pm at the Lighthouse Centre.

Ms Ginger Chin Zi Wei, the Student Council President 2014 as well as the organizer for the event announced that they are targeting to hand out 500 sets of food and beverage for the needy. “Our goal is to stop hunger by distributing food to the poor and the homeless. Thus, we sincerely urge the public for their many generosities. For just RM5 per set and you will help fill an empty stomach and warm a heart especially during this festivity.” added Ms Chin.

“Throughout the years, the students and staff of KDU Penang have done various community works. It is our sincere attempt to make positive contributions to a greater society good. Through such practices, it inspires and motivates the younger generation to exercise their social responsibilities.” said Ms Joey Phuah, the Advisor of Student Council of KDU Penang.

For more information about the event, please call Ms Cheah Shi Yi at 04-2266368. We believe that a little act of kindness would make a big difference to others. So let us all together celebrate this festive Chinese New Year with those who are less fortunate and bring them smiles and happiness. As the proverbs 22:9 say, “Whoever has a bountiful eye will be blessed, for he shares his bread with the poor”.
