"14 years in the engineering education business & we are still trying to improve ourselves every year. Our graduates are employed upon graduation due to our VLSI training advantage." The School of Engineering took off in January 1997 in Dewan Bandaran, Jalan Padang Kota Lama, Penang, Malaysia. It was set up then with the vision of meeting the urgent demand in our country for competent professionals and engineers.
Its first engineering program which led to the Diploma in Electronics, Telecommunications & Computer Engineering award commenced in January 1997.
In May 2002, the school started its collaboration with one of the leading universities in Australia – Deakin University and proceeded to launch the Bachelor of Engineering program after that.
In 2004, the school made further headway and started to collaborate with Northumbria University, United Kingdom to offer the Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Electrical & Electronic Engineering. This program successfully gained full recognition from the Malaysian Qualification Agency, MQA (Formerly known as Lembaga Akreditasi Negara, LAN) in June 2006 to become the first engineering school to have a fully accredited engineering program in the northern region of Malaysia.
Armed with industry linkage, the school has a consistent record of producing graduates who are proactive, dynamic and instilled with relevant skills that are much sought-after by today's top companies.
In its 14-year history, the Engineering Department has a tradition of being led by excellent individual in the engineering area with the most famous being Dr. Chong Beng Keok who is now the Principal of KDU College Penang.
The department is currently led by Mr. Alec Foong Kok Khoon who is supported by a committed team with experienced lecturers whose drive is to make sure their students become the very best in the engineering business. So ask yourself, "Do you have the VLSI advantage?"
