An Evening Of Stars: KDU College Penang holds its 20th anniversary gala dinner in style

It was an evening of glamor and celebration for the denizens of KDU College Penang. On the 7th of October, KDU College Penang Campus held its 20th Anniversary Gala Dinner, themed 'An Evening In Hollywood'.

In-keeping with the glitz and glamor of the night, the Gala Dinner was held in the grand ballroom of Penang's opulent Eastern & Oriental (E&O) Hotel. Staff, students and guests alike arrived bedecked in their finest Hollywood ensembles, glittering down the red carpet to the sounds of excited chatter and camera flashes.

The evening kicked off with rousing opening speechs by YB Dato Mansor bin Othman, Deputy Chief Minister of the Penang State Government, Dato' Teo Chiang Quan, Executive Chairman of KDU University Sdn Bhd and KDU College Penang Sdn. Bhd, and by Dr. Chong Beng Keok, Principal of KDU College Penang Sdn Bhd. YB Mansor took a moment to congratulate KDU Penang on its 20th anniversary, drawing attention to the many ways in which KDU College has served the state of Penang. Through its dedication towards nurturing and guiding generations of young Malaysians, KDU Penang has produced wave after wave of confident, capable young professionals whose service benefits our country in irreplaceable ways.

Among the honored guests at the event were to Mr. Voradet Viravakin, Royal Thai Consulate-General, Mr. Chilman Arisman, Consulate General from the Republic of Indonesia, Yang Berhormat Mr. Law Heng Kiang, Penang State Minister of Tourism Development, Dato' Teo Chiang Quan, Executive Chairman of KDU University College Sdn Bhd & KDU College Penang Sdn Bhd, Mr Ong Keng Siew, Managing Director & CEO of Paramount Corporation Sdn. Bhd,Datin Teh Geok Lian, CEO of KDU Education Group, Professor Dr. Teoh Kok Soo, Vice Chancellor of KDU University College Sdn Bhd, and Dr Chong Beng Keok Principal of KDU College Penang.

Dinner at the event was a sumptuous, multiple-course Chinese meal. Attendees at the gala ate, talked and socialized amongst one another at what is arguably one of the most highly anticipated events in the college year. The evening's entertainment was a programme of musical, acrobatic and dance performances by students of the college's various departments. In a cornucopia of dazzling lights and music, students showed off their considerable talent onstage to a thunderous round of applause from their lecturers and peers.

After a scintillating performance by the staff, Dato' Teo Chiang Quan ascended the stage to present the Long Service Award to Ms. GAn Siok Hoy from the Human Resources department for her long history of faithful service to the college.

Towards the end of the night, Dato' Teo Cheng Quan launched the KDU Penang 20th Anniversary Coffee Table Book—a tribute to the two decade long journey that KDU College Penang has made, from humble beginnings into the northern region's premier education institutions. Indeed, the KDU Penang 20th Anniversary Gala Dinner was an evening of glamor and celebration, but it was also one an evening of cherished memories for all who attended.
