George Town 14 April 2015 – Despite the changing times, the adage that “you only have one chance to make a first impression” is something that still holds true. And this is something that KDU College Penang aimed to reinforce when it launched the KDU Insta-Attire Contest on 13 April, 2015.

The seven -month campaign, lead by the KDU Student Council, aims to encourage students to take a more professional approach to dressing on campus, as part of its promise of helping students to hit the ground running upon graduation.

To participate, students are required to upload their best picture taken at the content Instagram Photo booth, along with the hashtag #Mondayoftheweek. Two winners, deemed most professionally dressed are then selected each week, winning a free GSC movie ticket each.

To help students understand what professional dressing is all about, a series of grooming workshops (e.g. Understand and develop self-confidence through self-grooming; How to dress for Job Interview; Dress for success etc.) are also scheduled throughout the campaign period.

KDU College also launched a second campaign the same day, in response to the “Be Green, Make a Difference” campaign that was launched by the Right Honourable Chief Minister of Penang and Chairman of Penang Green Council (PGC) Mr Lim Guan Eng recently.

To support this initiative, KDU’s campaign, lead by KDU’s Student Services Department, aims to create environmental awareness by encouraging students to carpool and free up much-needed carpark space on the campus, which is located at heart of Georgetown.

Students interested in participating are required to register with the Students Services Department, which will then proceed to match them according to the areas in which they live. They can then work out travel arrangements, and look for opportunities to share expenses.

The two campaigns are part of KDU College’s continuing effort to nurture responsible and socially-aware citizens who will be active contributors to the communities they engage with. And supports the college’s efforts to create professional, highly-employable graduates.
