KDU organizes first International Student Conference

There are sayings that Gen Y nowadays are "smartphones addicts" who never look up to the world above them but living in their own virtual world. To address this, KDU Penang as the premier education provider in the northern region is taking the lead to change this perception through the organization of student development events as we realize the infinite potentials in Generation Ys and believe in their competency to become our future leaders. One of these events will be the inaugural International Students Conference (ISC) which will be held on the 10 – 12 October 2013 at Traders Hotel, Penang.

Aptly themed "Tomorrow's Leaders: To inspire, to be inspired", this inaugural international student conference is organized by KDU's Student Council members who put together this occasion with the objectives to inspire youths to voice out their ideas and their dreams for the future from diverse perspectives. Thus far, universities and colleges from Malaysia and abroad such as China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Japan, Korea, Nigeria, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, United Kingdom and Vietnam have confirmed their participation for this insightful experience.

Star studded with prominent speakers from influential NGOs and corporate leaders in Malaysia namely Datin Paduka Marina Mahathir, Social Activist for women's rights and HIV/AIDS; Dato' Yew Tian Tek, Managing Director of Motorola Solutions Penang; Ms Chong Sook Leng, Group Human Resources Director of Paramount Corporation Berhad; Ms Norpisah Mat Isa, Registrar of Albukhary International University as well as Mr. Andrew Lau, Head of Leaderonomics Campus, they will be sharing their experiences with inspirational talks such as "The impact of Gender Equality", "Leadership and Innovation", "Social Skills for Future Talent" and much more. In addition to these eventful itineraries, there are also exciting topics such as a forum on "How to survive in 21st Century" and it is certainly a not-to-miss opportunity as the speakers will be sharing their knowledge and experiences which will benefit all the young participants of the 3 days conference. The event will be graced by Yang Amat Berhormat Tuan Lim Guan Eng, Chief Minister of Penang who will also deliver a keynote during the event.

Ms Joey Phuah, KDU's Student Service Department Manager who is also the Advisor for the event said: "This is ISC will serve as a platform for youths' development and to blossom into leaders who are prepared to make a difference. This is in fact the best opportunity for youth from near and far to come together, to inspire each other in shaping a better future."
