KDU goes "Exotic"

George Town, 3 March – KDU College Penang (KDU College) Mass Communication Club organised the inaugural Exotic Pets Carnival 2015 to raise funds for 4PAWS and the Children Protection Society on 1 March 2015 at its Penang campus.

Visitors were entertained with an interesting line-up of events. Some of the highlights include the K9 Unit Dog Show by PDRM, racoon show, snake charmer performance, exotic pets’ exhibition and competition.

Endorsed by the Penang State Tourism, the Exotic Pets Carnival 2015 received tremendous support from various sponsors, such as Polis Diraja Malaysia, Bukit Merah Laketown Resort, Lost World of Tambun, Penang Butterfly Farm, Penang Bird Park, and CTY Aquatic and Pet.
Project Director, Taufiq Muhammad, who is a Year Two student of KDU Diploma in Mass Communication, said, “The Mass Communication department of KDU recognises the charitable initiatives of 4PAWS and the Children Protection Society. Through this Exotic Pets Carnival, we hope to raise funds for the organisations which go towards contributing to their daily operational costs. Furthermore, we hope to create awareness of keeping pets, especially licensed exotic pets.”

KDU College actively organises events to benefit the society. According to Lalitha Shamugam, Mass Communication Lecturer and Advisor for Mass Communication Club of KDU College, “Through these community activities, KDU students gain hands-on experience in event planning while doing good for the society. This is an example of a real-world platform where Mass Communication’s students learn teamwork and event organising, essential skills which help our students hit the ground running after they graduate.”
