KDU Penang constantly takes pride in fostering the spirit of friendly competition and a go-get-it attitude amongst our various students. As such, we do our utmost to encourage our students to show their skills and compete in various competitions in national and international levels, and they have continually done us proud!
Most recently, a team of Chef students and Chefs from our School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts participated in the Culinaire Malaysia 2011. Jointly organized by the Malaysian Association of Hotels, Chefs Association of Malaysia and the Malaysian Food & Beverage Executives Association and known as the region's premier culinary competition, Culinaire Malaysia 2011 is an event that aims to showcase the best of Malaysia's culinary arts as well as food and beverage service skills. It was held in conjunction with the Food and Hotel Malaysia event (FHM) 2011.
Our team of Chefs and Chef Training Students in turn achieved greatness amongst their peers, and did Penang proud by bringing home two silvers, three bronze medals and five diplomas! Their tireless efforts to prepare carefully composed dishes wowed the judges, earning them a slew of amazing prizes.
Buoyant by the feat in keeping in line with the KDU Chef school's winning tradition, our students were also thrilled by the experience of participating in such an opulent event. Being able to participate in a national event of such prestige, proved to be a valuable learning experience, and it gave them the necessary confidence and exposure to compete in other major events in the future. The chance to rub shoulders with many industry professionals from various hotels and show off their skills in a competitive and national level environment was an unforgettable experience, and would give them a major leg up in the culinary field.
We at KDU would like to extend our heartiest congratulations to our chefs and chef training students! Keep making us proud!
